A compact, highly liveable tropical home that sits lightly on a large hillside site — lifted on a raised base to gain breeze, view and privacy, and gathered beneath an oversized lodge roof.

SM Lodge is a single-building residence designed for a generous 3,201 m² site in Koh Phangan. The villa is positioned lightly within the landscape, using a raised structure to create a shaded car park and service level below while lifting the main living spaces into the view, breeze and surrounding greenery above. Despite the large plot, the design keeps the land build percentage low at 5.6%, so the architecture feels private and spacious rather than overdeveloped.

The plan is arranged around a warm, open-plan living experience — kitchen, lounge and a large front terrace flow together, while the master bedroom and second bedroom sit slightly more privately on the same elevated level. A strong lodge-style roof with deep overhangs, timber soffits and exposed ceiling beams gives the home its identity, with LED strip lighting under the roof edge creating a clean evening silhouette over the landscape.
