Kawayan Bay

A contemporary three-bedroom villa set into a steep, densely planted hillside within Kawayan Cove, Nasugbu — arranged across four levels to work with almost 18 metres of elevation change rather than against it.

Kawayan Bay was developed as a comprehensive redesign within an established building footprint on a mountainside site with mature tropical vegetation. Rather than treating the villa as one large monolithic structure, the 694.5 sqm of accommodation steps with the terrain across a terrace level, ground floor, first floor and second-floor staff level — creating a sequence of indoor, semi-outdoor and landscaped spaces that opens the principal living areas toward the surrounding views.

The primary living level holds a 75.5 sqm lounge and balcony, two ensuite bedrooms and an open yoga area; above it, the main social level brings together a 41 sqm kitchen, 74.5 sqm dining space and a third ensuite bedroom. Staff accommodation, service circulation and a lower terrace level with a second yoga terrace and water storage are kept separate from the principal guest spaces, allowing the villa to operate efficiently without compromising the privacy of the main residence.

A restrained tropical material palette of adobe stone, microcement, teak and dark timber, stone-tile floors and anthracite aluminium framing runs throughout, with two architectural water features and large areas of glazing blurring the boundary between architecture and landscape.
